Cory’s Shearwater at Selvagem Islands #birding #Macaronesia

This is the first of a series of pictures of Cory’s Shearwaters (Calonectris borealis) at the Selvagem Islands. Selvagem Grande holds what probably is the largest colony in the world, with more than 20.000 pairs. Also, these birds arrive to their nests during the day, which is very unusual for the species, and have little or no fear to humans. This provides excellent opportunities to take unique pictures of these beautiful seabirds.
