Houbara Bustard in Fuerteventura #Birding #CanaryIslands

First day working in Fuerteventura with ScienceVision and looking for Houbara Bustards. I found a single individual late in the afternoon, there wasn’t much activity. Apart from the Houbara, Barbary Falcon, Canary Islands Buzzard, Spectacled Warbler, Black-bellied Sandgrouse… it’s good to be back in Fuerteventura! Primer día de trabajo en Fuerteventura con ScienceVision y buscando hubaras. Encontré un único individuo por la tarde, no había mucha actividad. Aparte de la hubara, Tagarote, Ratonero Canario, Tomillera, Ortegas… que bueno estar de vuelta en Fuerteventura.

Yellow-legged Gull in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria #Gulls #CanaryIslands

I had a few hours to go birding while I was in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (my hometown) and went to look for gulls at the harbor. I didn’t find any rare species but spent a while examining different plumages, ages and behavior. To this day, gulls are, for me, one of the most difficult groups of birds to age and identify (specially with so many splits in recent years) and I need to dedicate more time to study them.
