Barbary or Peregrine? Falcon seen in Lanzarote #Birding #CanaryIslands http://goo.gl/s946u2

The Canary Islands are an interesting birding destination that offer a good number of specialties. The local falcons have been traditionally considered to be Barbary Falcons, but the phenology of some individuals that closely resemble Peregrines has raised some questions. Rodriguez et al. on the subject: goo.gl/s946u2 This is a picture of an individual that could easily be considered a Peregrine somewhere in Iberia, that I saw recently in Lanzarote.

Parque Nacional de Garajonay #CanaryIslands #Photography

I’m currently in the Canary Islands working with Science Vision. We had a few fantastic days in Garajonay National Park. During the last day the weather "improved" and we got the misty atmosphere we were looking for. Now we have some calima in Lanzarote, but hopefully the rain will clear out the air to get good views of the volcanos. The picture was taken in "El Cedro", inside the National Park.
